Lola Jolene Adams, 93, of Decatur, died Sunday, April 1, 2018, in Decatur.
Service was Thursday, April 5, in Fort Worth with Garg Higgs officiating. Burial followed at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Alan Bingham, Harvey Farr, Mark Farr, Tommy Snyder, Jody Adams and Hunter Gantt.
Jolene was born May 18, 1924, in Odell. She graduated from Odell High School in 1941 and married her high school sweetheart, Harvey Dale Adams, in 1941. Following Dale’s untimely passing in 1962, Jolene went on to finish her bachelor’s degree at Texas Wesleyan College, gained her real estate license and operated multiple beauty salons around the DFW Metroplex. She eventually retired from Sally Beauty Supply at age 83.
Jolene was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Thelma Bingham; brother Kenneth Bingham; and her husband.
She is survived by her son Kelly Adams and wife, Anne; son Dan Adams and wife, Leigh Ann; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Odous Richard Adams, 91, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in Bowie.
Funeral is 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
Odous was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Marietta, Okla., to Thomas Sr. and Vertie (Rodgers) Adams. He married Inez Hatfield June 5, 1954, in Bowie. In 1962, they opened Adams Greenhouse and Fruit Stand in Bowie on Texas 101 and later moved out to U.S. 81/287 until they retired from farming and ranching in 2013. He was a Baptist.
Odous was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers Dale Adams, James Adams, Thomas Adams Jr. and Lee Adams; and sisters Skeeter Price and Joyce Shurbet.
Odous is survived by his daughters, Vicki McDaniel and husband, Larry, of Bowie, Velda Bates and husband, Allen, of Decatur and Vonda Hood and husband, Len, of Sunset; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and sisters Ruth Miller of Bridgeport and Mary Newman of Henrietta.

Peggy Jo Adams, 87 of Justin, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in Justin.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton. Interment will follow at Justin Cemetery.
Peggy was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Chico to Elijah Lee and Edna (Lough) Bays.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Adams; her parents; sister Cuelene Cavasos; and brother E.B. Bays.
Peggy is survived by her daughters Carolyn Pitts, Nancy Adams, Darlene Faught and Gaylon Stuebing; son James Adams; sister Helen Lee; brothers Tommy Bays and Harold Bays; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Albritton, Ted G., Sr. | 1929-2018

Ted G. Albritton Sr. died Saturday, June 16, 2018, after a prolonged illness.
Service was June 20 at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin followed by a service on June 21 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport. Burial was in Paradise Cemetery in Paradise.
He was born Sept. 23, 1929, at Bridgeport to Ben and Belle Albritton. He attended high school at Bridgeport where he played football for the Bridgeport Bulls.
After completing high school, he attended Southwest Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie and was ordained as an Assemblies of God minister. He began to preach wherever he could, including the First Assembly of God in Bridgeport. It was there he met Edna Geneva Thompson of Rusk. They married Sept. 28, 1951.
Soon after marriage he accepted his first pastorate at San Augustine. During the next 56 years, he pastored nine churches.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Gene Albritton; and sisters Addie Mae Warner, Doris Galloway and Ima Lee Anderson.
He is survived by his wife; sons Ted Jr. and wife, Constance and Richard and wife, Jana; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister Betty Joy Van Hoose of Brownwood.

Ruben Romo Alvarado, 42, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, in Fort Worth.
Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Ruben was born Feb. 15, 1976, in Jalisco, Mexico, to Jose and Maria (Alvarado) Romo. He married Arcelia Gonzalez in Virginia. Ruben was an oilfield worker for Prime Services.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Karina Romo of Bridgeport; son Mateo Romo of Bridgeport; sisters Blanca Romo and husband, Juan, of Houston and Sylvia Agras and husband, Gavino, of California; brothers Sergio Romo and wife, Christina, of Houston and Jose Romo and wife, Jessica, of Rhome; and his father.

Walter Crindon Amonett, 83, of Decatur died Friday, June 29, 2018, in Decatur.
Funeral was July 3 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with Louis Horton officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale Watts, Connor Watts, Jerry Brooks, Jim Hooper, Zach Burns and Chuck Roberts.
Honorary pallbearer was Craig Shaw.
Walter was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Electra to William and Marjorie (Crockett) Amonett. He married Geraldine Berg Dec. 17, 1960, in Decatur. He was a retired butcher and member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. Walter served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.
He’s survived by his wife, Geraldine Amonett of Decatur; daughters Nacina Walker and husband, James, of Decatur, Lorenda Hornsby and husband, Russ, of Chico and Roxanna Shivers and Mike of Frisco; son Nelson Amonett of Attalla, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Joseph A.R. “Little Joe” Anderson, 88, of Bridgeport, died Friday, May 4, 2018, in Decatur.
Graveside service was May 8, at West Bridgeport Cemetery with Fred Raney officiating.

Little Joe was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Vernon to Terry and Audra (Recer) Anderson. He married Dorothy Nard Jan. 1, 1991, in Lake Bridgeport. He was an AM Hamm Radio Operator and a machinist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Jodie Anderson; six brothers and sisters; and grandson Eric Doyle “Anderson.”
He is survived by his wife of 27 years; sons Eddie Anderson and wife, Darla, of Lake Bridgeport, Terry Anderson of Bowie and David Anderson and wife, Deborah, of Decatur; daughters Carolyn Anderson Speers and husband, Danny, of Caddo, Okla., Audrey Anderson Bates of Burleson and Sherrie Anderson of Kiowa, Okla.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pliny Andrews, 80, of Paradise, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, in Decatur.
Services were Oct. 5, at First Baptist Church of Paradise. Burial followed at Paradise Cemetery.

Pliny was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Wichita Falls to Reece E. “Chick” and Margurite Moore Andrews. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1957 and went to Decatur Baptist College. After graduating he went on to Howard Payne College. He was drafted in 1962 and served in the Army, stationed in Germany for 18 months. On returning to the United States, he married Carol Bond.
Pliny also went to the Local 18 Sheet Metal Workers Union Apprentice School for four years to become a sheet metal mechanic. He worked in the trade for 47 years before retiring in 2005. Pliny’s last employer was SkiHi Enterprise of Fort Worth, where he was vice-president of the industrial group.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; sons Bradley Howard Andrews and wife, Suzanne, of Paradise and Steven James Andrews and wife, Amanda, of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister Barbara Lambert of Fort Worth.

Bobbie Roberts Ashley, 85, of Decatur, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018, in Decatur.

Bobbie was born May 26, 1933, in Decatur to Nim Rod and Katie (Evans) Roberts. She married Joe Harold Ashley Aug. 11, 1956, in Denton. Bobbie was a retired medical assistant.
She was active in her Red Hat group, president of the Greenwood EEC multiple times, an avid supporter of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge and walked miles over the years with Walk Across Texas. She was a member of the Wise County Historical Commission and was the go-to person for the Greenwood/Slidell area. According to Historical Commission Chairman Kerry Clower, Bobbie was largely responsible for the landmark designation and the Texas Historical Commission marker for the Greenwood Masonic Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Nim Ashley; grandson Jeff Porter; and a great-grandson.
She is survived by her daughters, Debi Porter of Decatur and Jo Anne Humes and husband, Craig, of Hickory Creek; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Louise was born Jan. 25, 1928, in McKinney. She worked as an electronic assembler in aviation and retired from Lockheed Martin.
She was a past member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Reno and a long-time member of Wise County Antique Auto Club.
She is survived by her son, Don Athey and wife, Kitsy, of Boyd; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

Doris was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Poolville to Samuel and Bessie (Loafman) Hays. She married Carl C. Autry Jr. March 26, 1948, in Boyd. They were married 54 years. Doris was a member of First Baptist Church of Boyd, Eastern Star and Texas Library Association. After retiring from Lockheed Martin after 33 years, she worked as a librarian. She taught Sunday school at Friendship Baptist Church for more than 20 years and was also the treasurer for more than 40 years. Doris served as a pianist at Friendship Baptist Church and then Victory Baptist Church in Park Springs for a total of 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
She is survived by her son, Rev. Mark Autry and wife, Julie, of Boyd; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Rick was born July 8, 1960, in Big Spring to Sandra L. (White) and Richard J. Bailey Sr. He graduated from Grapevine High School and married Dana Lynnette Hayes.
Rick was employed with Atmos Energy and had worked for them for 30 years.

Alvin Baker Jr., 77, of Decatur, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Decatur Church of Christ with Rick Ross and Ron Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Boyd Cemetery.

Alvin was born Jan. 20, 1941, in Decatur to Alvin and Evelyn (Whittington) Baker. He married Patricia Pope May 26, 1962, in Decatur. Alvin was on the 1958 Boyd Regional Championship football team. He started to work for the Continental State Bank in Boyd in the summer of his eighth grade year. He worked full-time after graduation from Boyd High School. Alvin left the bank in 1973 to work full-time on his family’s ranch. Alvin was a rancher the rest of his life. He was a longtime member of the Decatur Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years; son Alvin Baker III and wife, Kellye, of Decatur; two grandchildren; and sister Billie Beverly of Irving.

Virgle “Pepaw” Ballard, 91, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, in Decatur.

Virgle was born Aug. 22, 1927, to E.J. Ballard and Sara Jane Rose-Ballard. He was a graduate of Poolville High School. Virgle married Modena Anderson Dec. 22, 1951, in Poolville. He retired from Perry Equipment in Mineral Wells.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years; brothers Bill, Hubert, Houston and Carl; and sister Annie Robbins.
He is survived by his daughter, Carlene Ivester and husband, Dan, of Poolville; two grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and brother Raymond Ballard of Poolville.

Banks, Larry Donald  | 1938-2018

Larry Donald Banks, 80, of Paradise, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, in Bedford.
Funeral was Dec. 21 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with Gerre Joiner officiating. Burial followed at Antelope Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Nathan Banks, Bryn Banks, Paul Pasichnyk, Rodney McCollum, Sam Parker and Mike Ramsey.
Larry was born Oct. 18, 1938, in Dallas to Weldon and Callie “Jim” (Dicken) Banks. Larry graduated from West Texas State University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in geology. He married Billie Rhea Fry Dec. 17, 1964, in Dallas.
Larry served in the U.S. Navy in Attack Squadron VA-76 “Spirits” during the maiden voyage and Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 on the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). He was senior archeologist of the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1970 to 1993.
Larry was an adjunct professor at the University of Texas – Arlington and Southern Methodist University. He was recipient of the second John F. Seiberling Award. Larry was past president of The Register of Professional Archeologists, and he was a research associate of the Smithsonian Institution.
Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell Banks.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; son Nathan Banks of Royal, Ark.; daughters Rachel Banks and Stephanie McCollum and husband, Rodney, all of Paradise; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters Brenda Eubanks of Clifton and Mary Banks of London, England.

Darlene was born Nov. 17, 1940, in Bridgeport to Weldon and Carrie (Hartsell) Kaker. She married Buddy Bean Sept. 19, 1959, in Mexico.

He was the owner of Twin Hills Restaurant and Store at Lake Bridgeport. He was also a graduate of Texas A&M with a bachelor of science in agricultural economics. He was a retired captain from American Airlines, farmer, rancher and business owner. Rollins served his country as a captain in the United States Air Force. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport and the 12th Man A&M Century Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Alvin Monroe Bilby.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Connie Bilby of Lake Bridgeport; daughters D’Anna Garrett and husband, Kelly, of Bridgeport, Kimberly Fritch of Euless; sons Jeff Bilby and wife, Esther, of Paradise and Scott Bilby and wife, Patty, of Boerne; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Rex W. Richard Alan Bledsoe, 62, of Rhome, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, in Decatur.

Richard was born July 22, 1955, in Waco to Kenneth Boyd Bledsoe and Peggie Strickland Bledsoe. He grew up in Waco and graduated from Richfield High School. He was an independent contractor for several years before becoming director of facilities for EFW in Fort Worth. He was the recipient of numerous awards at EFW and served as fundraising chairman for the American Junior Golf Association-Elbit Systems of America Classic.
Richard enjoyed hunting, softball, four-wheeling, golf, fishing, shooting, cooking and anything else outdoors. He supported numerous charities, particularly those supporting breast cancer, children, veterans and animal rescues.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sister, Sherry Maxwell of Little Rock, Ark.; and cousins Larry Wright of Temple, Russell Strickland and Glenda Hamilton of Mexia, Jeff Strickland of Corpus Christi and Carol Williamson of Perkinston, Miss.

Lois was born on Feb. 17, 1925, to Jesse James and Vera Ella Skinner.
Lois grew up on an island in Florida with her two brothers, Thomas James (TJ) and Fred, and her sister, Willie Lee. She left Florida at the age of 17 when she met Joseph Leo Blisseck in 1942. They were married for 61 years at the time of his death in 2004. After their wedding, she became a homemaker, a military wife and eventually a mother.
After the military years, Lois and Joe settled in North Texas, and remained in the area for the rest of their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her husband; daughter Marie Thompson; and grandchildren Molly and Joe Binom Thompson.
She is survived by her children, Joseph Jr. and Toni Blisseck, Margaret (Peggy) and Chan Horne, Patricia (Patty) and Pat Muskevitsch and Theresa and Bill Owens; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Bert was born Dec. 3, 1941, to William and Mattie Boydstun of Burkburnett. Bert was a barber in his early years with a shop on the Decatur square. In 1981, he went to work for Peterbilt in Denton and for many years worked two jobs. Bert was an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed sharing his harvest with family and friends.
He never met a stranger and was a generous man. He had strong faith in God and found much comfort by prayer, scripture and listening to hymns.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mattie; and his brother, William.
He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Judy Blair Boydstun; daughters Michelle Boydstun van Tol and husband, Alex, of Northridge, Calif., Jan Jones Arnold and husband, Greg, of Katy, LeaAnn Boydstun Reyes and husband, Paul, of Wichita Falls and Julie Boydstun Holdridge and husband, James, of Keller; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sarah Earlene (Broom) Branson, 85, of Springtown died Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, in Springtown.

She was born May 27, 1933, during the Great Depression, near the small farming community of Mt. Joy in Delta County. Her mom and dad and their eight children relocated to Artesia, N.M. when Earlene was in the third grade. She graduated with honors from Artesia High School in 1951. She married airman Hugh L. Branson of Kingston, Tenn., June 21, 1952, and raised four children. Earlene retired as a civil servant and legal secretary who in her lifetime worked for the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, Tenn., where she had Q clearance, for the Department of Justice with the Drug Enforcement Administration in Dallas and with the United States Attorney’s office in Ft. Worth, and with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. She also worked as a civilian employee at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls where she was president of her union. Earlene also had an associates degree in criminal justice. She was a resident of the Springtown area near Poolville since 1971.
Earlene is survived by her sister, Ruby Broom; sons Rene Branson and Leslie Branson; daughters Jeana Williamson and Ami Brown; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hershel “Elmo” Brewer, 86, of Forestburg died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, in Nocona.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the First Baptist Church of Bowie with Mike Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Salona Cemetery.
Elmo was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Forestburg to Jim W. and Tiny Brewer. After graduating from Forestburg High School, Elmo went to work for Convair (Lockheed Martin), Ford Motor Co. and General Motors, where he retired in 1989 with 31 years of service.
He married Imogene Holland Feb. 10, 1951, in Nocona. He was a Mason and recently received his 60-year service pin and held dual memberships at the Masonic Lodge No. 523 in Forestburg and Lodge No. 578 in Bowie. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and held a Class A Certificate for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Tina Brewer; brothers Winfred Brewer and Gerald Brewer; and daughter Channa Brewer.
Elmo is survived by his wife, Imogene Brewer; children Gary Brewer and Arlene, and Terry Brewer and wife Cindy; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Jeff was born March 3, 1951, in Wichita, Kan., to Joe D. Briley and Carroll M. (Wise) Briley. He married Debbie Doffing June 28, 1969, in Wichita. Jeff retired from AT&T as a network supervisor. He served his country in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father; wife Debbie; and brother Rodney Briley.
He is survived by his daughter, Dana K. Williams and husband, Phillip, of Wichita; sons Anthony R. Briley and wife, Ana, of The Colony and Jeremy T. Briley of Decatur; four grandchildren; brother Greg Briley of Wichita; sisters Vicki McDonald, Cynde Hampton and Brenda Briley, all of Missouri; and his mother.

Joe was born Oct. 19, 1943, in Enid, Okla., to Floyd and Rena Belle (McGeehee) Britton. He married the love of his life, Louise Weyerts, Feb. 23, 1963, in Enid, Okla. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he was a marketing manager. He was awarded for 30 years of perfect attendance. He also served as a deacon in his past at previous churches, and worked in the maintenance department for the Chico Independent School District. Joe was a member of Community Church in Decatur and served in disaster relief with the Southern Baptist Foundation.
He loved woodworking, fishing, playing cards and dominoes, especially 42. He enjoyed making people laugh and serving the Lord and others as well. Joe was a huge OU fan and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Cecil and Loten Britton; and sister-in-law Earlene Britton.
Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years; daughters Julie Maddux and husband, Mike, Rhonda Thompson and husband, Brian and Jennifer Burkholder and husband, Jeff; brothers John Britton and wife, Mary Ann and Paul Britton and wife, Barbara; sisters Iva Hodson and husband, Bob, Loretta Krug and husband and Gary, Glenna Williams and husband, Duwayne; sister-in-law Arline Britton; grandchildren Meredith Highsmith and husband, Aaron, Shane Maddux, Allison Maddux, Lindsey Richey and husband, Sherrod, Valerie and Savannah Thompson and Mackenzie and Carissa Burkholder; great-grandchildren Averie and Cambrie Richey and Eili and Emelia Highsmith.

Bob was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Fort Worth to Hubert and Nina Fay (Wadley) Brown. He married Wanda Walker May 2, 1958, in Fort Worth. Bob retired from Bell Helicopter as a plastic foreman, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alvord where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Darlene Strong.

Harlan served his country as a corporal in the United States Army. He was a farmer and raised cattle and horses and attended rodeos. Harlan played the guitar and was a member of the Buckner Band.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years; sisters Reba Jo Buckner and Margie Buckner-Brown; and brother Marshall Buckner.

Marcy attended nursing school when she was 18. She didn’t retire until she was 83.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Miles Pearce; daughters Marilyn Ann Pearce and Marilyn Kay Whisnand; and grandsons Tim Fowler and Tony Pearce.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Caldwell of Chico; daughters Miki Campbell and husband, Wesley, of Bridgeport, Maggie Fowler and husband, Neal, of Arlington and Johanna Pearce of Decatur; son Michael Pearce of Chico; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He married Sandra Dee Osborn Aug. 8, 1977, in Crosby County. Together they worked many years in the irrigation supply business on the South Plains and moved to Lake Brownwood in 2006. Joe retired from Home Depot in Brownwood and was a member of the First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson Nathan Don Baker; and brother Billy Ray Campbell.

Robert was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Bridgeport to Jay Warren and Mary Etta (Whatley) Caraway. He was a retired truck driver for Magnum Trucking.
Robert was preceded in death by his father and wife, Jay and Dean Caraway; and mother and husband Mary and Don Otto.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Caraway, of Chico; sons Bobby Caraway of Rotan and Jay Caraway of Chico; daughters Sandra Strone of Poolville, Melinda Post of Tipton, Okla., Frances Monroe of Fort Worth and Donna Caraway of Chico; sisters Billie Ann Long, Bertie Jean Lewis, Dorothy Nell Pittsley, Alice May Bear, Rhonda Gess, Terrie Caraway, Peggy Wigger and Sandra Caraway; brother Jay Allen Caraway; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Ed was born July 13, 1928, in Crafton to Edwin Forrest and Bessie (Stout) Carlisle. He married Carol Ann Christopher Nov. 12, 2005, in Reserve, N.M. Ed was a member of the Chico Church of Christ. He was a preacher and farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Julianna Carlisle; and granddaughter Angel Carlisle.

Betty Evelyn Elliott Carlton, 82, of Bridgeport died Thursday, April 5, 2018.

Betty was born May 26, 1935, in Bridgeport to Clifford and Bertha Hall Elliott. She married Tom Carlton April 19, 1952, in Bridgeport.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brother Johnny Grill; son Tommy Carlton; and great-grandson Carver Swift.
She is survived by her husband; daughters Barbara and Lynda; daughter-in-law Sharon; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary was born April 27, 1934, in Waskom to Benjamin and Katherine (Farmer) Dry. She graduated from Waskom High School and the University of North Texas with a teaching degree. She later worked for the city of Decatur where she was a librarian at the city library. She married J.N. Carpenter in 1955.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and sister Barbara Smith.
She is survived by her children, John Carpenter, Charles Carpenter and Ann Carpenter; and two grandchildren.

J.E. Carson, 89, of Decatur died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, in Decatur.
Memorial service was Oct. 4 at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Brian Bosworth officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur.
Pallbearers were Roy Eaton, Charles Burton, Derrick Boyd, Juan Flores, Ronnie Gage, David Mosley, Jimmy Brummell and Mark Cocanougher.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Wiley, Alford Talley, Charles Long, Bennie Rutherford, Darrell Ley, Tom Ferguson, Bobby Wilson, Will Klose and Jeremy House, including past and present Decatur Independent School District superintendents Kenneth McKay, Rod Townsend and Dr. Judi Whitis.
J.E. was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Santa Rita to Joseph Benson and Mary Emma Dodge Carson. He married Betty Burnett July 9, 1954, in Decatur. J.E. retired from Decatur Independent School District as a school administrator. He attended Greenwood School in Greenwood and graduated from Slidell High School in Slidell. J.E. graduated from North Texas State University (NTSU) with a Bachelor of Science degree, where he played basketball his freshman year. He served two years in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he taught at Paradise ISD, where he later coached varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball.
After J.E. and Betty married, they moved to Kaufman, where he was the high school principal and boys’ basketball coach at Scurry-Rosser. The following year, the Carsons moved to Decatur, where J.E. taught junior and senior high math and coached the boys’ junior varsity basketball team. He also started the Decatur High School baseball program. In addition to teaching, J.E. became a Division II basketball official, officiating more than 1,100 games over a 25-year period.
J.E. received his Master of Education degree in the 1960s from NTSU. He continued teaching middle school math until he became the Decatur Middle School principal in 1971, a position he held until his retirement in 1990. His slogan from DMS, often repeated at Decatur ISD school board meetings was, “Teaching and learning are still going on at Decatur Middle School.”
As a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur, J.E. was a loyal member of the men’s class and served on the finance committee and building committee. For 12 years, he served on the Decatur Planning and Zoning Commission. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Decatur Housing Board and the Decatur Water Board.
Golf was a huge part of J.E.’s life. He was a charter member of the Decatur Country Club (DCC) and a member of the Senior Oil Belt Golf Association. The DCC senior golfers, of which he was a “member,” were nicknamed the “Rat Patrol.” Beginning in 1998, J.E. shot his age or better more than 1,500 times.
In 2001, the DISD School Board recognized the Carsons by naming Carson Elementary School in their honor. Together, J.E. and Betty have a combined total of 78 years of service to the Decatur Independent School District.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
J.E. is survived by his wife, Betty Carson of Decatur; daughter Carol Ann Carson of Decatur; sister-n-law Wanda Kite and husband, Alton Kite, of Gainesville; his chosen family, Nancy Brummell Boyd; Derrick Boyd and wife, Cheri Boyd, and children, Emily, Ainsley and Finley; Will Klose and wife, Crystal Boyd Klose and children, Kyndal and Trey, all of Decatur; Katherine Hildenbrand and children, Linnea and Margot of Denton; and many friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Decatur Education Foundation, Decatur Public Library or Wise Area Relief Mission (WARM).

Royce was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Fort Worth to Silas Roy and Hulda Foster. She owned two restaurants in Petersburg. Royce retired from EDS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Nick Case; granddaughter Cheyenne Case; and daughter-in-law Jean Case.
Royce is survived by her sons, Bennie Case and wife, Darlene, of Decatur and Doug Case of Quinlan; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was born Dec. 2, 1958, in Dallas to Pleasant and Mary Jo Shaddox Casteel. Dave grew up in Newark and attended Northwest ISD. He worked for Trackmaster Fabricators for over 40 years with his closest friend, George W. Fields. Together they built race cars and raced at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, where he holds the world record for World’s Fastest Coupe at 305.607 mph.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother; sons Kristopher B. Casteel and Dusty R. Casteel; sisters JoAnn, Frances, Wanda, Janie, Kathy, B.J and Ruthie; brother Max; grandson Tuff; and closest friend George W. Fields.

Betty was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Decatur to Ruth Bowen and Samuel Russell Hudson. A lifelong resident of Wise County, Betty grew up in Bridgeport and lived in Decatur most of her adult life. She served in Wise County Clerk’s office and retired from the Texas Department of Transportation.
Betty married Billy Ralph Chaney Nov. 26, 1971, and they lived in Decatur until his death in 2010. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Stanley Hudson; and sister Sylvia Jeter.
She is survived by her son, Brent Goodger and wife, Miki, of Martindale; daughter Camille Beville of Hereford; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

He retired as an aircraft mechanic with the Navy and also retired from Bell Helicopter with over 20 years of service.

He was born July 19, 1952, in Bridgeport to Grover O. and Edith Meadows Cleveland. He retired from Poco Graphite in Decatur after 22 years. He worked at Braum’s in Decatur for nine years.
He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents Omar and Zula Cleveland and Tom and Orvella Meadows.
Jeff is survived by his mother; daughter Amber Travis and husband, Terry; grandchildren Roger Witty Jr., Kevin Witty and Jazmine Cadena of Arlington; and sister Deborah Garrett of Marble Falls.

Zelda M. Colburn, 84, of Bridgeport died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, in Decatur.
Memorial service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport with Rick Davis officiating.
Zelda was born Sept. 16, 1934, in Winters to Bill and Gena Mathis.
She was the administrative assistant for the Bridgeport school district for 35 years before retiring. Zelda quilted, crocheted and danced. She was also an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law L.O. and her sister, Betty Jo Hargrove.
Zelda is survived by her daughter, Patti Ackley of Grand Junction, Colo.; sons Calvin Scott Colburn and wife, Karen, of Paradise and James Gregory Colburn and wife, Cherie, of The Woodlands; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Glenn (B.G.) Cocanougher, 86, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at home in Dallas after a long illness.
Memorial service was Oct. 30, at The First United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Brian Bosworth officiating.
Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur handled arrangements.
Bonnie was born Jan. 21, 1932, in Decatur to Glenn Howell and Gertrude Cocanougher. He married Regina Cook on Groundhog Day in 1957 in Abilene. Bonnie Cocanougher was active in the family ranching and dairy business and the oil and gas industry. He owned and operated a Ford dealership for many years along with Woodcreek Apartments in Denison. Bonnie served as president of the local Rotary Club chapter and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Decatur, where he also taught Methodist Men’s Sunday school. B.G. Cocanougher was a 1949 graduate of Decatur High School and a 1956 graduate of Texas A&M. He received a Bachelor of Science in agricultural administration. While at A&M, Bonnie was elected president of the Agricultural Economics Club and served as an adviser to the dean.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Christina Kay Cocanougher; and brother Allen Howell Cocanougher.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years; sons Preston Cocanougher and wife, Barbara, of Decatur and Mark Cocanougher of Dallas; daughter Catherine Cocanougher of Dallas; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Reid of Decatur and Sue Murray of Henrietta.

Beverly Ann Coffey, 60, of Decatur, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, in Decatur.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Central Baptist Church in Chico with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur.
Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.
Beverly was born Feb. 17, 1957, in Denton to Charley and Imogene Suter. She married Jimmy Coffey Jan. 4, 1979, in Decatur. Beverly was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Chico. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all. Beverly was preceded in death by her father; and sister Connie Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years; sons Jimmy Lee Coffey Jr. and wife, Anita, of Fort Worth, Bobby Lee Hill of Bridgeport and Jason Matthew Coffey of Aubrey; her mother; sisters Glenda Perkins of Decatur and Judy Strange of Decatur.

Jacky Ray “Jack” Coffman, 84, of Paradise, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, in Paradise.

Jack was born Aug. 14, 1934, in English to Samuel Sagville Coffman and Lela (Hunt) Coffman. He married Wanda Janell Gibbs Oct. 23, 1954, in DeKalb. He was a retired truck driver and car salesman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years; daughter Jackie Nell (Coffman) Blake and husband, George, of Paradise; sons Jacky Ray Coffman Jr. and wife, Geni, of Paradise and Jim Gibbs Coffman and wife, Shaneece, of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Jesse Coker, 94, of Rhome, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, in Decatur.

Jesse was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Collin County to Jesse and Josephine (Knight) Coker. He married Dorothy Nell Calvert March 12, 1946, in Rhome. Jesse retired from General Dynamics where he worked for 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newark and served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; son Kenneth Coker; and four sisters.
He’s survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Coker of Rhome; daughter Nancy McPherson and husband, Paul, of Rhome; son Ronny Coker and wife, Marlyn, of Hughes Springs; grandchildren Cheryl Rose and husband, Jim, John McPherson and wife, Tracy, Jennifer Otremba and husband, Steve, Michael Coker, Michelle Goodson and Kendra Sims; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother Sammie Coker; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Gwendolyn was born March 26, 1935, in Decatur to Otho and Thelma (McDaniel) Lisby. She retired as a caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Lisby; and sisters Joan Jackson and Rumell Pitts.
She is survived by her daughters Nan Stanford and husband, Steve, of Saginaw and Jan Winters and husband, James, of Wiggins, Colo.; sons Van Estel and wife, Vicki, and Dan Estel and wife, Susan, all of Boyd, and Zan Combs of Alvord; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Herman William Conway, 70, died Monday, June 11, 2018, in Forestburg.
Funeral was June 15 at the First Baptist Church of Forestburg with Pastor Tim Neely officiating. Burial followed at Perryman Cemetery in Forestburg.

Herman was born Sept. 29, 1947, in Jacksboro to William and Marjorie (Lyles) Conway. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971.
He had a lifelong career in law enforcement. He was a police officer for the Nocona Police Department, then he was a patrolman and later chief of police for the Decatur Police Department, and then chief of police for Saint Jo Police Department. He worked 13 years for Webber Aircraft, and during this time, he was a deputy constable for Jack County. Herman returned to Montague County and served as constable for 16 years and a county commissioner for four years until his retirement in December 2016.
He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Grace Maxwell; parents W.F. and Marjorie Conway; and sisters Elizabeth Conway and Frankie Castle.
Herman is survived by his wife, Marsha Conway of Forestburg; children Tonya Calhoun and husband, Calvin, of Forestburg, Sarah Knabe and husband, Rusty, of Fort Worth, and Willy Conway of Forestburg; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and sisters Carolyn Fenoglio of Nocona, Sharron James of Nocona and Rachel Ingram of Bowie.

Danny was born June 12, 1947, in Mattoon, Ill., to Nelson and Emily (Barr) Cooper. Danny retired as a paint and body technician. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughters Emily and Katlyn; Linda Hatley; sister Linda Zimmerman; and brothers Jerry, Gary, Paul and Pete Cooper.

She worked as a Certified Nurses Aide on the Alzheimer unit at Senior Care and Trinity. Debbie also worked with the elderly at Stagecoach.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years; daughter Stacy Ann Wilson and husband, Bill, of Apple Valley, Calif.; son Travis Melton of Chico; sister-in-law Tammy Sosa and husband, Darren, of Chico; three grandchildren; daughter-in-law Ashley Smith and son Joseph Siebert;

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws George and Lucille Cox; siblings Wayne McDaniel, Larkin McDaniel and Joyce Mathews; and grandson Brenn Taylor.

Norma Joyce Davis was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Decatur, to Earnest Gomer Lee and Maggie Embrey (Brown) Lee. The Lee family lived on a farm north and west of Decatur. Norma moved to Wichita, Kan., at a young age and married Theodore Grant Davis Jr. June 13, 1965. He was in the car business, and together they acquired a number of dealerships in Kansas and surrounding states. At one time Grant owned or had interest in 10 dealerships in three different states. The Wichita dealerships still operate under the name “Davis Moore.”
Before Grant’s death, Norma purchased a farm on the edge of Decatur. She and Grant made improvements to the farm house and property. After Grant’s death, she spent most of her time in Texas and acquired a new residence and acreage. The acquisition of the farm led her into the cattle business. She also had horses, burros, dogs, llamas, and fed wild deer and turkey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters Barbara Lee, Elfreda Garlington and Hazel Massey; and brothers Donald and Norman Lee.
She is survived by her stepson, Theodore Grant Davis III; and three stepgrandchildren.

He retired as a software engineer and worked at Northrop Grumman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl C. McCracken and Hazel McCracken.

He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was sober for the last 30 years and was the sponsor for the Wise County AA.
Austin was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Joe Eustace.

Phoebe, called “Renne,” was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Bellevue to Edley Wilbur and Rena Hurst Cox. Renne graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in business administration and then married W.C. Fields Feb. 8, 1951.
She was a school teacher at University United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls for many years. She later earned a degree in education from Midwestern State University. She was a member of the Unity Club of Henrietta.
Renne was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brother Edley W. Cox Jr.
She is survived by her children, Dr. William Calvin Fields III of Decatur, Gary Paul Fields of Trophy Club and Lesli Gail Fields Trost of Potomac, Md.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

Terry was born Aug. 8, 1954, in Alta Loma to Doyle and Virginia (Johnson) Fisher. He married Kathy Rester April 3, 1976, in Bacliff. Terry retired from TDCJ as a plant manager in 2000. He was a member of Paradise First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Terry is survived by his wife of 41 years; son Will “Billy” and wife, April, of Bridgeport; four grandchildren; brother Aaron Fisher and wife, Brenda, of Huntsville; and sister Jan Bosque and husband, Dell, of Texas City.

Bill Flanagin, 68, of Walsenburg, Colo., died Saturday, March 10, 2018, from heart failure.
A celebration of life will be 1 p.m. March 17, in Irving.
Bill lived for many years at Lake Bridgeport and taught in Wise County. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Walsenburg, Colo.
Bill grew up in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. He graduated from Irving High School in 1967, served in the U.S. Army as a flame thrower instructor at Fort McClellan in Alabama and graduated from North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) in 1977. His career in education began when he and Edie were house parents at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. After graduating college, Bill taught special ed classes in Commerce and Alvord and middle school science in Bridgeport.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Edie Flanagin; sons Spencer, Benjamin and wife, Kalyn and Samuel and wife, Nicole; and two grandsons.

Gola Mae Fleming, 104, a homemaker, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in Decatur.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30 at Cates Street Church of Christ in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held immediately following the funeral in the church fellowship hall.
Scott Strothers will officiate. Pallbearers include Steve Thomas, Will Shudde, Jay Fleming, Cary Fleming, Gil Fleming, Landon Longley and Russell Longley.
Gola Mae was born at home on February 18, 1914, to John and Grachia (Osburn) Berry outside Paris, Texas. She was raised in Vamoosa, Okla., where she attended and graduated from Vamoosa School. As an 8th grader she played on the high school varsity basketball team, which led to a lifelong love for the sport and her becoming an avid fan of the Dallas Mavericks. She was honored and excited to be their guest on her 100th, 101st, 102nd and 103rd birthdays.
Gola Mae married Ernest Fleming on November 28, 1939. They were married 60 years before his death in 1999. They moved to Bridgeport from Seminole, Texas in 1963 and were faithful members of the Cates St. Church of Christ, where he served as an elder and she taught Sunday School Classes for many years. The highlight of her week was receiving hugs from the young people at church.
She loved her family and encouraged and enjoyed family reunions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Fleming; son, John Paul; son-in-law, Bill Longley; two brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Fleming and wife Glenda of New London; her daughter, Gatha Longley of Bridgeport; her grandchildren, Bevie Fleming Thomas and husband Steve of Kountze, Sue Fleming Shudde and husband Will of Abilene, Jay Fleming and wife Gena of Leander, Cary Fleming and wife Donetta of Euless, Gil Fleming and wife Pam of Tyler, William Landon Longley of Richardson, and Russell Longley of Richardson; 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Finis was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Corsicana to David and Rena (Sheets) Fluker. He married Etta Mae Gilliam March 11, 1946, in Corsicana. They were married for 67 years. In 1948, he began his 65-plus years as a teacher and pastor in several states.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife; son Tarrant Eugene; sisters Dorothy and Edna Mae; and his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Dooling and husband, Louis, of Decatur; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters Ann, Elaine, Jonnie, Jo, Jane and Ruby; and brother David.

David Guinn Fortenberry, 61, of Arcadia, Okla., died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, in Arcadia, after a battle with cancer.

David was born Oct. 21, 1957, in Decatur to Ansel and Mary Nell Fortenberry. David was an elder at New Hope Church of Christ and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Archers. David graduated from Decatur High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1981. He had a career in drilling and engineering at Mitchell Energy and Devon Energy.
He is preceded in death by wife, Shirley Fortenberry; and his father.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Fortenberry; children Lauren Fortenberry, Emily Fortenberry and Josie Fortenberry; stepchildren Justin Prindle and wife, Krista, Joshua Prindle and Jamie Newton and husband, Zach; three grandchildren; siblings Judy Shelley and Philip Fortenberry; and his mother.

Does where she served as president in Tucumcari, N.M.

Bill was born Nov. 21, 1930, in Bowie to Herman and Nada Fox. He was a mason and belonged to the Bowie Chapter. After retiring from A&P Grocery and Jacks Food Store, where he was a butcher for 40 years, he became a full-time rancher. He married his wife, Joan, July 16, 1950.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years; children Tony Fox of Bowie and Tena Peoples and husband, Darren, of Chico; sister Donnie Cage; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Samuel Lewis “Sam” Frankenfield Jr., 96, of Rhome, died Friday, May 25, 2018.
Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel Fort Worth.
Sam was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Fort Worth. He graduated from Poly High School in 1939 and attended North Texas Agricultural College, now UTA.
Sam worked briefly for Convair (later known as General Dynamics) where he met Juanita Mansell. They married Oct. 27, 1945, and settled in the Handley neighborhood in east Fort Worth.
Sam owned and operated many businesses (milk route, liquor store, ice plant, oil re-refining plant, window display) before becoming a realtor and embarking on a successful 35-year career as a custom home builder.
Sam was involved in many civic affairs on the East Side. He served as president of the East Handley Dad’s Club, chairman of the East Side YMCA and manager of his son’s baseball teams. Sam was also a master mason, shriner and member of Moslah Temple for more than 50 years.
Sam was a member of Handley Meadowbrook Christian Church where he served as deacon and board chairman.
For 59 years, Sam was a dedicated member of the Handley Meadowbrook Lions Club, where he served in various offices including president. As a Lion, Sam received numerous awards, most notably the Lion of the Year Award and the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship. Sam was instrumental in the construction of the current HMLC building and was a long-standing, highly respected member of the board.
Sam was president of the Interlochen HOA while living in Interlochen prior to moving to his ranch near Rhome.
Sam was a member of Glen Garden Country Club and later a member of Woodhaven Golf and Country Club. Sam had seven holes-in-one during his golfing career and shot his age or better 877 times.
After Juanita’s passing in November 2017, Sam continued to live at their Rhome ranch. He had retired from active cattle ranching, but played golf and attended the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years; father Samuel Lewis Frankenfield Sr.; mother Blanche Shaw Frankenfield Cozart; sister Sara Margaret Plaxco; and brother Robert E. “Bob” Frankenfield.
Sam is survived by daughter Jan McNicholas and husband, Mike, of Hurst; son Samuel Frankenfield III and wife, Suzan, of Fort Worth; three grandchildren ; and four great-grandchildren.

Hattie was born April 10, 1933, in Newark to Samuel Brooks Hardee and Maudie Ella Covington Hardee. She was an active member of the Church of Christ. Hattie graduated from Slidell High School in 1951, where she was a basketball player. That same year she also met and married Albert D. Fulton. They were married 64 years.
Hattie was a Cub Scout leader in Copperas Cove during the ’60s and a Girl Scout leader in Florence during the ’70s. She was a member of the Florence riding and roping club.
Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jo Berl, Frank and Ed Hardee; sisters Johnnie McCasland and Jessie Cole; her husband; and sons Aubrey and Joel Fulton.
She is survived by her twin sister, Willie Lee Morgan of Dallas; sons James Fulton and wife, Tammy, of Manhattan, Kan., and Billy Fulton of Florence; daughters Ella Pemberton and husband, Clint, of Buchanan Dam and Tammy Smith and spouse, Glen Penner, of Florence.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jose Antonio Garcia; and sister Maria Elisa Cervantes.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years; son Enrique “Henry” Garcia III; daughters Terry Garcia Gannon and Estelle Williams; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Butch was born Jan. 13, 1948, in Bridgeport to Jimmie and Juanita (Beaumont) Garrett. He married Janet Force July 20, 1968, in Bridgeport.
Butch served his country as a sailor and an engine mechanic in the United States Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Colonial out of Vallejo, Calif. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Butch earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
He worked for Bell Helicopter. Butch also was the owner of Garrett and Garrett Trucking Co. and Garrett and Garrett Dairy that he and his father started together.
Butch rode motorcycles all his life. He was active in the community and was co-founder of the Wise County Toy Run.
He was also a board member of several organizations, including Farm Bureau, Vigortone Minerals, Cargill Molasses Division, ASCS Wise County USDA, City of Lake Bridgeport and various other organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson Grayson.
Butch is survived by his wife of 50 years; son Willie Garrett and wife, Robin, of Bridgeport; daughter Betty Garrett Kleam and husband, Ronnie, of Bridgeport; and three grandchildren.

Donny also proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an aviation mechanic on board the USS Kitty Hawk. While in the Navy he completed aviation fleet preparatory A school and also received a National Defense Service Medal.

Veda was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Hopedale, Ohio to Chester and Edna (McCracken) Johnson. She married Paul Grimes June 28, 1953, in Cadiz, Ohio. Veda worked for both Bridgeport ISD and Chico ISD. She retired from Chico, where she was the supervisor over the cafeteria after 22 years. Veda also worked at the soda fountain in Chico after retiring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Dale Grimes; grandson Brent Lemond; sister Laura Fleming; and brothers Harold Johnson and Carl Johnson.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Grimes and wife, Cathy, of Alvord; daughter Sheila Lemond and husband, Kevin, of Alvord; son Gary Grimes of Chico; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Shawn Grundy, 49, of Decatur, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, in Decatur, after a battle with cancer.
Graveside service is 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Bethel Cemetery with William Brooks officiating.
Family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Shawn was born Feb. 4, 1969, in Bridgeport to Eddy and Eva (Spann) Grundy. He married Brenda West April 16, 1994, in Decatur. Shawn was a diesel technician
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years; daughter Amber Jones and husband, Wade, of Ponder; sons London Grundy and Hunter Grundy, both of Decatur; two grandchildren; brothers Rusty North and Philip Grundy; sisters Falon Grundy and Nicole McGar; stepfather Russell North of Decatur; stepmother Cindy Grundy of Decatur; and grandmother Anna Spann of Decatur.
