Hale died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, in Lake Worth. Born May 20, 1964, in Oakland, Calif., to Gene and Anita Hale, he was in the U.S. Army. He also fished. Hix died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010. Born Dec. 3, 1941, in Haskell to the Rev. Jesse Jones and Annie Lena Curry Jones, she attended school in Haskell. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, and she earned numerous post graduate certifications, including her superintendent certification. Hix taught school in Wichita Falls and Bowie, was assistant principal at Cleburne High School and principal of Bowie Elementary. She was also superintendent of the Gold-Burg school district and worked for the Region IX Education Service Center. Hix was active in various churches throughout her life. She played the piano and organ for several churches and was a choir member. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Jo Price of Kermit and Jessie Ruth Nesbitt of Denison, Iowa. She is survived by her children, Paul Hix of Amarillo, Mark Hix of Carrollton, Kimberly Hix Trant of Decatur and Douglas Hix of Longview; brothers, David Jones of Fairhope, Ala., and Chester Jones of Houston; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Holland completed her associate degree at Tarleton State College, a bachelor of science at Texas Woman's University and her master's degree at Abilene Christian University. Holland taught school at Blewett County School and Woodson High School from 1938 to 1952. Her family then moved to Breckenridge, where she taught at East Elementary until retirement. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and served 20 years with the Ombudsman program. She was the 2001 Citizen of the Year, 1989 Kiwanias Lay Person of the year for Christian service, 1981 to 1982 Teacher of the Year, 1987 Villa Haven Nursing Home Volunteer of the Year, 2001 Eckerd 100 Women of America Salute and recipient of the West Central Texas Council of Governments Service to Older Texans Award.She was preceded in death by her husband; brother Allen McCurdy; and sisters, Beatrice Moore and Dorothy Blessing. McDaniel died Saturday, April 10, 2010.Born June 9, 1924, in Abilene to Ruby and Henry McDaniel, he spent nine years at the Lena Pope Home during his childhood. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a survivor of the U.S.S. Lexington at the Battle of the Coral Sea. He married his wife, Julia, Dec. 14, 1952. He was a firefighter for the city of Fort Worth for 25 years. McDaniel was an entrepreneur and was a member of the Masons, Shriners, the 32nd-degree Scottish Rite and the Wise County Veterans Group. He was a self-taught artist and a golfer. He bowled with the senior league.He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmie Lee McDaniel, and five siblings. He is survived by his wife; children, Gary Bob McDaniel and wife, Cynthia, Donna Marie Graves and husband, Bradley, and Evelyn Wilhite; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Carrol Gene McDaniel; and a sister, Linda Sue Girardi.

Miller served in the Army Corps of Engineers in the reconstruction efforts in Europe after World War II. He married Florence Elizabeth Hansell Aug. 7, 1950, in Mountain Home, Ark. The family moved to Fort Worth in 1953.Miller was a boy Scout Leader and a member of the Grace First Presbyterian Church. He was a health physicist for the nuclear division of General Dynamics in Fort Worth. After retiring, he owned and operated a marina and beach resort with his family on Eagle Mountain Lake. He and his wife moved near Paradise and Cottondale after retiring from the marina and resort.Miller was a member of Mensa and the Health Physics Society. He was a humanist. Miller camped, built a variety of things and repaired electronics. He was a sports enthusiast and coached Little League Baseball in Bridgeport for more than a decade. He also attended Bridgeport High School sporting events.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport.He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Bertie Gilliland Murphy; and four sisters, Alyn Gentry, Earlyn Jones, Velma Lee George and Billy Baker.
