Rainwater died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, in Fairfield. Born Sept. 5, 1945, in Upper Derby, Canada, to Worthington and Harriet (Astles) Lyons, she married Walter Rainwater Sept. 3, 1966, in Utica, Mich. She was director of Wise County Committee On Aging and Meals on Wheels. She was predeced in death by her husband in February 1988; brothers, Reginald and Douglas Lyons; and a sister, Roberta Knust. She is survived by brothers, E. H. Lyons and wife, Nancy, of Comox British Columbia, Canada, and George Lyons and wife, Lorraine, of Utica; sister, Deloris Roggenbuck and husband, Fred, of Macomb, Mich.; 16 nieces and nephews; and stepdaughters, Judy Stoddard and Renee Hall of Michigan.

Ramsey died Friday, July 16, 2010, in Paradise. Born May 23, 1958, in Fort Worth to J.F. and Helen Lee, she was a homemaker. She knitted, collected frogs, decorated and spent time with her family. Ramsey was preceded in death by a sister, Michelle Duncan. She is survived by her husband, Richard Ramsey; daughter, Jennifer Swanzy of Bridgeport; son, Tim Ramsey and wife, Janice, of Aguilar, Colo.; mother; brothers, Ricky Lee and wife, Audie, Frankie Lee and partner, Lisa, Johnny Lee and wife, Sue, and Dennis Lee and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Hunter Ramsey, Emaley Swanzy, Kyle Ramsey, Abigale Swanzy, Karley Ramsey and Kohlton Ramsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral for Ruel Daniel Ray, 87, of Decatur was to be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Stout officiating. Burial was to follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1, and visitation was to be 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Ray died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, in Bedford. Born July 21, 1923, in Smithfield to Andrew and Josie Fry Ray, he married Margaret Lutz Dec. 3, 1939, in Fort Worth. Ray served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chico post. Ray retired as foreman from Star Tank Truck and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chico. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 30, 2008. Ray is survived by his daughter, Marietta Gillespie and husband, Marshall, of Highland, Utah; son Andrew Ray and wife, Carol, of Arlington; grandsons Bryan Gillespie of Houston and Nathan Lucero of Fort Worth; granddaughters Lisa De La Cruz of Plano and Olivia Lucero of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews. Renshaw died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010.Born Feb. 18, 1942, in Fort Worth to Dr. and Mrs. H.S. Renshaw, he attended Fort Worth schools, graduating from Paschal High in 1960. He attended Texas Christian University and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In 1965, he graduated from TCU and married Kathy McClure Renshaw of Midland. He studied history and was a teacher for 27 years at Blackwell (Okla.) High School. He returned to his family's ranch east of Decatur in 2000. He was a hunter, shooter and life member of the NRA.He is survived by his wife; sons, Rob of Oklahoma City and Steve and wife, Kris, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Charles and wife, Sally, of Decatur; sister-in-law, Mary Lee York of Port Lavaca; grandchildren, Drew, Ryan and Sam Renshaw of Colorado Springs; and nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to Grace Fellowship Church, 118 Honeysuckle Road, Paradise, TX 76073; or Fisher House Foundation, which assists wounded veterans.

Robinson died Friday, May 7, 2010, in Slidell. Born June 8, 1923, in Gainesville to Olvis and Frances Elizabeth (Musick) Robinson, she graduated from Gainesville High School. Robinson received bachelor's and master's degrees in music and a doctorate in elementary education from the University of North Texas.She taught school in Fort Worth, Amarillo, Mooreland, Okla., South Georgia College and Missouri Valley College. Robinson was also a writer and published more than 100 poems, for which she won numerous awards. She served on several panels including Research in Reading and the International Reading Association in El Paso and in Japan. Robinson was also a member of the UNT Symphony and the Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and traveled the world. In 1947, she married Henry Fortenberry. They were divorced in 1970, and before being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she lived in Tyler. She is survived by daughters, Beth Tannenbaum and husband, Steven, of Tarzana, Calif., and Claire O'Berry of Slidell; grandchildren, Piper Riley of Santa Monica, Calif., Heather Riley of Slidell, Jacob LeGrant of Westlake Village, Calif., and Sydney Tannenbaum of Tarzana; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Zoe Newkirk of Santa Monica.

Scott died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in Decautur.Born June 25, 1931, to Dr. Verne and Anna Pearle (Kern) Scott in Stephenville, he married Barbara Ann Wood July 3, 1954, in Stephenville and retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a soil conservationist. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1954, serving four years in the Corp of Cadets. He then served as a 2nd lieutinant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served on the Wise County Soil and Conservation board from 1988 to 2009, the Bridgeport City Council from 1992 to 2010 and the Wise Water Board from 2000 to present. He was named Citizen of the Year in 2005 by the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce. He was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport for 43 years.He was preceded in death by a brother, Verne A. Scott Jr.He is survived by his wife; son, Dr. David Scott and wife, Karen, of Albuquerque; daughter, Becca Scott Kay and husband, Brent Kenneth, of Princeton; sister-in-law, Eva Jo Scott of Stephenville; as well as other relatives.Pallbearers were to be Cal Wood, Steve Howard, Bob Montgomery, Michael Reeves, Stephen Scott Childs, Wayne Harveson, Jeremy Cowlishaw and Gary Bible. Simmons died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, in Jacksboro.Born Nov. 18, 1926, in New Harp to Vernie and Iva Mae (Rice) Simmons, he served in the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II. He married Treva June Freeman Sept. 25, 1954, in Gainesville. They lived in Alvord from 1963 to 2002. Simmons was baptized in the summer of 1967 at Bethel Baptist Church in Audubon. He worked in the Fort Worth Stockyards for 22 years and retired from Trinity Industries in 1990 after 16 years of employment. For the last eight years, he lived in Jacksboro raising cattle and watching wildlife. Simmons played guitar and sang country and gospel music.He was preceded in death by two brothers, seven sisters and two great-grandsons.Simmons is survived by his wife; daughter Teresa Pate and husband, Fred, of Jacksboro; sons Cary Simmons and wife, Janet, of Alvord and Benny Simmons and wife, Trisha, of Jacksboro; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sparks married Nancy Pearl Erwin Jan. 2, 1946, in Weatherford and he retired from Cargill. Williams died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, in Fort Worth.Born May 23, 1939, in Fort Worth, to Wingate and Mary Williams, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 40 years.
