Mawby - Ken and Barbara Mawby
Fortieth wedding anniversary April 4, 2004
Ken and Barbara Mawby of Decatur celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary April 4, 2004.
They were married April 4, 1964, at the Gesu Catholic Church in University Heights, Ohio. They have three children, Karen Johnson of Rowlett, Michelle Thomas of Greenville and Jeff Mawby of Saginaw; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Ken Mawby has been fleet manager at James Wood Motors in Decatur for 14 years. Barbara Mawby retired from The Club at Runaway Bay.
The couple celebrated by reaffirming their wedding vows. Berl Pedigo officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Chris and Sharon Tillery of Chico. The groom is the son of Gary McCue.
A reception was given by the bride’s parents.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of Chico High School and a 2002 graduate of North Central Texas College. She is employed by Sunny Hills Nursing Center.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of Grafton High School and is in the U.S. Army.
After a wedding trip to Eureka Springs, Ark., the couple reside in Chico.

Danni “Brandi” Leigh Calhoun, daughter of Danny and Pam Calhoun of Bridgeport, will marry Christopher “Chip” Travis McFerrin, son of Harold and Peggy McFerrin of Decatur, on June 12, 2004, at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Jacksboro. A reception at The Club at Runaway Bay will follow.
The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Jacksboro High School and will graduate from the University of North Texas with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in the fall. She is the granddaughter of JoAnn Moses of Hallsville, Kenneth Monts of Gilmer and Mr. and Mrs. James Calhoun of Jacksboro.
The prospective groom is a 1996 graduate of Decatur High School and a 2000 graduate of the University of North Texas with a degree in business administration. He has been in the banking industry for more than nine years. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyett Hobbs of Tolar.

Marriage vows exchanged June 12, 2004
Danni “Brandi” Leigh Calhoun and Christopher “Chip” Travis McFerrin were married June 12, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro. The Rev. Will Aston of Antelope Baptist Church officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Danny and Pam Calhoun of Bridgeport and the granddaughter of James and Juanita Calhoun of Jacksboro, Jo Ann Moses of Hallsville and Kenneth Monts of Gilmer.
The groom is the son of Harold and Peggy McFerrin of Decatur and the grandson of Hoyett and Beth Hobbs of Tolar.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless designer ball gown featuring a scalloped bodice embellished with hand-sewn pearls and authentic crystals on Alencon lace. The full satin skirt was topped with a tulle overlay of Alencon lace accents and a chapel-length train.
She carried a bouquet of aliza pink roses.
The maid of honor was Whitney Clay of Spade. Bridesmaids were Lacey Calhoun of Katy, cousin of the bride, Pamela Wolfe of Runaway Bay and Sharla Douglas of Decatur and Melanye Ballard of Mansfield, both sisters of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Cara Martin of Hallsville, cousin of the bride. The honor attendants wore strapless floor-length rose petal satin gowns with matching shawls and carried bouquets of white roses.
Flower girl was Loughlin Douglas of Decatur, niece of the groom. She wore a sleeveless white tea-length dress with a beaded lace bodice and full organza skirt. She carried a basket filled with pink rose petals.
The best man was Ian Douglas of Decatur, brother-in-law of the groom. Groomsmen were Brandon Calhoun of Waco, brother of the bride, Jacob King of Denton, Robby Brooks of Decatur and Kelly Ballard of Mansfield, brother-in-law of the groom. Junior groomsman was Cole Picha of Mansfield, nephew of the groom.
Ring bearer was Liam Douglas of Decatur, nephew of the groom.
Ushers were Clay Whetsell of Decatur, Dustin Dunlap of Jacksboro, Ray Mounts of Hallsville, uncle of the bride, and Ryan Monts and Chase Monts, both of Hallsville and cousins of the bride.
Candlelighters were Zach Monts and Colton Martin, both of Hallsville and cousins of the bride. Soloist was Jane Ann Rhoten of Jackboro, pianist was Cindy Brooks of Decatur and organist was Becky DuBois of Jacksboro. The sound director was Therrol DuBois and coordinator was Charlotte Brandenburg, both of Jacksboro.
Guestbook attendants were Kaitlin Martin of Hallsville, cousin of the bride. Bookmarks and programs were presented to guests by Deryk Poynor and Bristyn Dunlap, both of Jacksboro.
A dinner reception was hosted by the bride’s parents at The Club at Runaway Bay. Angi Chapman of Decatur, Bristyn Dunlap, Deryk Poynor and Rhonda Dunlap were servers.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Jacksboro High School. She will graduate from Baylor University in May 2005 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science.
The groom in a 1996 graduate of Decatur High School. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of North Texas in May 2000. He is employed by First Community Bancshares as regional compliance auditor in Killeen.
Following a honeymoon to Grand Cayman, British West Indies, the couple will reside in Killeen.

Rachel Christian Stabile and Lawrence Earl McGinnis II were to be married June 12, 2004, at the Center for Visual Arts in Denton. The Rev. Kent Miller officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Sharon Stabile-Davis of Denton and Chris Stabile of Corinth.
The groom is the son of Larry and Elrisa McGinnis of Paradise.
Escorted by her father and stepfather, Brandt Davis, the bride wore a floorlength gown with a fitted bodice of mocha satin overlaid with ivory lace with seed pearls. Her headpiece was ivory tulle trimmed with ivory satin.
She carried a cascade of eucalyptus, berries, white orchids and dark pink protea.
Maid of honor was K.J. Day of Denton. Bridesmatrons were Erin Stabile Quy of Denton, the bride’s sister, and Shirley Richardson of Bridgeport, the bride’s sister-in-law. Bridemaids were Kate Stabile of Denton, Courtney Stabile of Fort Worth and Angela Krauz of Corinth.
The bridemaids wore floor-length satin dresses in varying colors of lilac and pink and carried misty blue and pink protea bouquets.
Best men was Babe Bigley of Denton and Rusty Nunnelee of Irving. Groomsmen were David Killpack, Gary Bigley, Walker Stabile and Mike Richardson.
Ushers were Peter Travis of Pittsfield, Mass., and Mikey Richardson of Bridgeport.
Flower girl was Maggie Quy of Denton, niece of the bride. Ringbearer was Nicholas Richardson of Bridgeport, nephew of the groom.
The reception was at the Center for Visual Arts, given by the bride’s mother and stepfather.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Texas Woman’s University and is a graduate student at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is employed by Denton County MHMR.
The prospective groom is a student at the University of North Texas. He is employed by UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
After a wedding trip to British Columbia, the couple will live in Denton.

Vicki Lynn Wilson of Fort Worth and George Frances Miller Jr. of Fort Worth were married April 3, 2004, in an afternoon ceremony at Pecan Creek Arena in Cottondale.
Reverends Jerry and Linda Tedder of Hilltop Assembly of God officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Alan Wilson of Cottondale and Linda Wilson of Saginaw.
The groom is the son of Donna Enos of Haltom City.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin gown with an empire waist. Her rhinestone and pearl tiara had a fingertip veil. Her flowers included gerber daisies, lipstick roses, yellow button mums, forsythia and bear grass to achieve the look of a hand-picked bouquet.
Ashley Karpenko, cousin of the bride, of Fort Worth was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Robertson of Fort Worth, Maritza Weise of North Richland Hills, MaryAnn Miller, sister-in-law of the groom of Haltom City, and Christina Lincoln of Fort Worth.
All bridesmaids wore cranberry dresses. They wore balck sequin shoes and carried yellow and orange gerber daisies with lipstick roses and bear grass.
Best man was Marc Miller, brother of the groom of Haltom City.
Groomsmen were David Enos, step-father of the groom of Haltom City; Cody Miller, nephew of the Groom of Haltom City; A.J. Wilson, brother of the bride of Cottondale; and Colton Miller, nephew of the the groom of Haltom City.
Flower girls were Sarah Stewart, daughter of Scott and Janet Stewart, cousin of the bride of Fort Worth; Allison Stephens, daughter of Donnie and Kelly Stephens of Haltom City; and Morgan Washington, daughter of Keith and Cheryl Washington of North Richland Hills.
Ringer bearers were Travis Stewart, son of Scott and Janet Stewart, cousin of the bride of Fort Worth and Kyle Stewart, son of Mike and Lorie Stewart, cousin of the bride of Haslet.
Guest book attendant was Delbra Buyers of Bedford.
Soloist was Jennifer Larson of Haltom City.
A reception, given by the bride and groom’s families, was held at the barn at Pecan Creek Arena.
Servers were Linda Pierce and Carol Snow, aunts of the groom of Haltom City.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple reside in Fort Worth.
The bride graduated from the University of North Texas in 1997 with a degree in education and works for Birdville ISD.
The groom graduated Haltom High School in 1989 and works for the city of Grapevine.

Kasey Lynn Matthews and Justin Mark Miller, both of Denton, were married in a double ring ceremony April 17, 2004 at Heritage House of Cedar Hill. The Rev. Paul Nichols officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Gail Matthews of Alvord and Rusty Matthews of Daphne, Ala.
The groom is the son of Glenn and Mary Miller of Midlothian.
Escorted by her mother, the bride wore an ivory satin halter wedding gown with a sweep train as well as something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. The ivory flower petal design headpiece belonged to her grandmother on her wedding day 52 years ago and was attached to a new elbow length veil of tulle and seed pearls. She wore a gold and garnet necklace borrowed from her mother and a blue crystal hairpin in her hair.
The bride carried a bouquet of white irises, and the garden ceremony and reception area were decorated with shades of purple irises and tulips.
Usher was Dusty Matthews, brother of the bride.
The bride’s parents gave a reception at Heritage House of Cedar Hill where servers were the bride’s sisters, Wendy and Heather Matthews and the groom’s sister, Leslie Miller.
After a wedding trip to Sante Fe, N.M., the couple live in Lewisville.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Alvord High School. She works at Wise Regional Health System in Decatur.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and works for Methodist Health Systems of Dallas.

Fortieth wedding anniversary Aug. 23, 2004
Patricia and George Moore, Jr. of Bridgeport will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Aug. 21, 2004, with a party at their home hosted by their children.
The former Patricia Ivey and George Moore, Jr. were married Aug. 23, 1964, at the First United Methodist Church in Belton.
They have two sons, Clark and David Moore. Clark, his wife, Michele, and their daughter, Clara live in Belton. David, his wife, Melissa, and their daughters, Emma, Libby and Gracie live in Jacksboro.
George Moore is a parole officer for the state of Texas and Patricia is a counselor at Decatur High School.
They are both members of the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport.

The Rev. Kenneth Emerson who married Leroy Morris and the former Dena Berry April 15, 1954 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Alvord will officiated the renewal of vows.
The couple’s children will hosted a reception following.
They have a daughter, DeAnna Gayle Leopold of Fairview and two sons, Donald Leroy Morris of Sulfur, Okla., and Douglas Robert Morris of Decatur. They also have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Leroy was a tax collector for Alvord ISD.
Dena was a tax collector for Decatur ISD.
They are both members of First Baptist Church of Gordonville.

Emory and Litha Moss of Decatur celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Greenwood Baptist Church. They were married March 14, 1954.
Emory Moss retired from Lone Star Gas. Litha Moss retired from Wal-Mart.
They have six daughters, Betty Throneberry of Dixon, Mo., Mary Robinson of Waxahachie and Debbie Smith, Sarah Moss, Bobbie Hendrix and Nancy Resma, all of Decatur. They have 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The prospective groom is a 1995 graduate of St. Mary DeSales in Toledo, Ohio, and a 1999 graduate of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. He earned his graduate degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. He is a captain and communications officer in the United States Air Force.

Escorted by her father and stepfather, the bride wore a halter-style gown with a purple beaded organza bodice and chapel-length train. She also wore a a tiara and fingertip veil.
She carried a multi-floral bouquet wrapped in satin.
Maid of honor was Shiloh Hofacket, sister of the bride of Chico. Bridesmaids were Amy Aueline and Breann Hand. They wore floor-length orchid dresses and carried multi-floral bouquets wrapped in satin.
Flower girls were Bandi and Rheason Leverett, daughters of BJ and Stacy Leverett of Chico.
Candlelighters were Ashley Smith and Joli Buckner.
Best man was Pate Cayce, cousin of the groom of Chico. Groomsmen were Amon and Steven Cox.
Ushers were John Harris, the bride’s stepbrother and Calvin Morales, groom’s cousin.

Ringbearer was Hunter Horner, cousin of the bride, of Denton, and the son of Blake and Tracey Horner of Denton. Honorary ringbearer was Shane Miller, cousin of the bride of Greenwood and the son of Guy and Brenda Miller.

The ballroom-length skirt and long train were full with layers of tulle, adorned with beads. The bride’s headpiece was a pearl adorned pin accented with crystals and an ivory veil edged with small pearls.
She carried a bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath tied with sheer red ribbon.
Matron of honor was April Hughes of Fort Worth, sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Kimberly Myers of Lantana, sister of the bride.

Al and Ann Scott of Bridgeport will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 3 in Dallas with their son David and his wife Karen of Albuqurque, N.M. and their daughter Becca of McKinney.
Scott and the former Ann Wood were married July 3, 1954, in Stephenville. They lived in San Saba, Ulm, Germany, Graham, and Whitesboro, before making Bridgeport their permanent home in 1965. Al retired as district conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and is a natural resource specialist with the Wise Soil and Water Conservation District. Ann is executive secretary of the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce. They are longtime members of the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport.

The bride is the daughter of Allen and Judy Bingham of Decatur.
The groom is the son of Steve and Jamey Thrasher of El Paso.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a full-length, white satin sheath with a fitted bodice supported by spaghetti straps, which were accented with sequins, crystals and rhinestones. The same beadwork adorned the waistline. The sweep train was transformed into a French bustle for the reception. Two rows of rhinestones set in a flower pattern, separated by crystals accented the tiara, which framed the bride’s updo. The bride wore elbow-length white gloves, which belonged to her mother, and her maternal grandmother’s diamond necklace.
The bride’s bouquet was a nosegay of cream vandella roses with stephanotis, pearls and cream Gabriella ribbon.
The maids of honor were Susan Summers of Abilene and Emily Bingham of Decatur, sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Jennifer Trotter of Hurst. The honor attendants wore black satin, floor-length dresses with strapless bodices adorned with black beads and sequins. The same beading decorated the front of the fitted dresses. They carried nosegays of cream vandella roses with Gabriella ribbon.
The best man was Chris Thrasher of Arlington, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Ramon Lopez of El Paso and Maurice Mitchell of Austin. Ushers were Greg Butler of Anadarko, Okla., cousin of the bride, and Ben Rowe of Burleson.
The guestbook attendant was Stephanie Hughes of Round Rock. Pianist and soloist was ShaRita Wesley of Decatur.
A reception was given by the bride’s parents at the Decatur Civic Center. Entertainment was given by Brad Logan of Decatur on piano and solist Susan Summers.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Boyd High School and majors in accounting at Midwestern State University, where she plans to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in May 2004. The groom is a 1999 graduate of Hanles High School in El Paso and received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Midwestern State University in 2003. He is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration and is employed as a graduate assistant at MSU.

The skirt was a floor-length champagne colored ball gown with mid-length train. She also wore a pearl tiara with an elbow-length veil with champagne satin trim. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses.

Bobby Wilson owns Decatur Country Real Estate and is on the Wise Regional Health System Board of Trustees. He is a former Decatur mayor and councilman.
Raynette Wilson is a homemaker. She has been a longtime Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Decatur, where the couple attends.
They have five children, Clay Wilson of Springdale, Ark., and Pam Goodwyn, Lisa Stone, Bart Wilson and Julie Haney, all of Decatur. They also have 11 grandchildren.

Leo and Faye Winters of Boyd were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children at the First United Methodist Church of Boyd Saturday, Oct. 2.
Leo Winters and the former Faye Latham were married Oct. 2, 1954, in Markham.
They have three children, Cecil Winters, Suzy Garrett and husband, Ray, and Cindy Abraham and husband, Andy, all of Boyd. They also have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The couple are members of the First United Methodist of Boyd and Leo Winters is retired from the U.S. Air Force.

Fiftieth wedding anniversary Oct. 30, 2004
Billy Joe and Norma Womack of Chico will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Bridgeport Senior Citizens Center. Friends, neighbors and former church members are invited to attend.
Womack and the former Norma Chilcutt were married Oct. 30, 1954, in Springtown.
The couple has two daughters, Sherri Robinson of Bridgeport and Rhonda Dunlap and husband, Milton, of Jacksboro. They also have four grandchildren, Ashley Dunlap and husband, Philip, of Panama City, Fla., Asa Robinson of Fort Worth and Dustin Dunlap and Bristyn Dunlap, both of Jacksboro.
The Womacks have lived in Wise County for many years, where he served as pastor for the First Assembly of God Church in Chico for 14 1/2 years.
The family requests no gifts.

Amanda Lee Steidl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Steidl of Wichita Falls and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Buchanan of Muskogee, Okla., will marry Benjamin Guy Young, son of Cindy Young of Decatur and Billy Young of Cottondale, on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at 7 p.m. at the Evangel Temple in Wichita Falls.
