Tiffany Gayle Morris of Chico and Martin Edward Ard of Alvarado were married Sept. 6, 2003, at Central Baptist Church in Chico. Dr. Jerry Stout officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Wayne and Trena Morris of Chico. The groom is the son of Howard and Margaret Ard of Grandview.
Honor attendants were Kristin Morris of Chico, sister of the bride, and Dusty Peters of Crafton.
The best men were Darrin Ard of Gail, brother of the groom, and Curtis Skiles of Cleburne.
A reception dinner was held after the ceremony.
The groom is employed at Harris Medical Lab in Fort Worth.
The couple lives in Alvarado.

Askey - Bob and Nelda Askey
Fiftheith wedding anniversary Dec. 21, 2003
Bob and Nelda Askey of Dalhart will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Dec. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Family Life Center of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.
The reception is hosted by their son, Paul Askey of Decatur.
Bob Askey and the former Nelda Odom were married Dec. 20, 1953, in the First Baptist Church in Decatur. They are retired teachers and have lived in Dalhart for 45 years.
Family and friends are invited to the reception. No gifts are requested.

Marriage vows to be exchanged Dec. 20, 2003
Stephanie Ann Lee of Decatur, daughter of Dennis and Sonia Lee of Decatur, will marry Robert David Bates of Greenfield, Ind., son of David and Krista Bates of Greenfield, on Dec. 20, 2003, at the Decatur Church of Christ. Robert Isham will officiate.
A 2001 graduate of Decatur High School, the bride-elect attends Harding University in Searcy, Ark., and plans to graduate in 2005 with a degree in computer science and business.
The prospective groom is a 2001 graduate of Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Ohio, and attends Harding University. He plans to graduate in 2005 with a business degree.

Benedick - George and Darlene Benedick
Fiftieth wedding anniversary Dec. 27, 2003
George and Darlene Benedick of Decatur will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception given by their children at the Decatur Civic Center from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003.
Their children are: Ben and Shelly Benedick of Portland, Ore.; Rich and Becky Vega of Rawlins, Wyo.; Bill and Susie Benedick of Decatur; and Chad and Bridget Carstens of Bridgeport.
George and Darlene Benedick were married on Dec. 27, 1953, in Hoisington, Kan. He is a retired chemical engineer. She is a homemaker.
Family and friends are invited to the reception.

Marriage vows exchanged Dec. 14, 2002
Brittani Dawn Winters of Decatur and Michael Jacob Black of Arlington were married Dec. 14, 2002, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur. The Rev. Tim Staub officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Michael and Tamie Winters of Decatur.
The groom is the son of William and Lillian Black of Georgetown.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a princess-style, white satin gown with pearl and crystal accents and a cathedral length train. She wore a tiara with a cathedral length veil, and she carried a bouquet of white and deep red roses accented with gold trim.
Maid of honor was Tiffani Winters of Decatur, sister of the bride, and bridesmaid was Kasi Cobb of Denton, cousin of the bride.
Best man was David Black of Georgetown, brother of the groom, and groomsman was Coby Cobb of Justin, cousin of the bride. Ushers were Jeffrey Black of Georgetown, brother of the groom, and Coby Cobb.
The guest book attendants were Jennifer Spain and Bethany Staub of Decatur
Coby Cobb provided special music, and the organist was Tonya Hale, great-aunt of the bride. A reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
After a short honeymoon trip, the couple reside in Arlington.

Bowling - Mr. and Mrs. Rickey Scott Bowling
Marriage vows exchanged Aug. 30, 2003
Shelby Lynn House and Rickey Scott Bowling were married in a double ring ceremony on Aug. 30, 2003 at 3 p.m. at the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth. Chris Contakos, uncle of the groom, officiated. The couple celebrated afterward with family at Pappasito’s restaurant.
The bride is the daughter of Richard and Vicki House of Hurst.
The groom is the son of Rickey D. and Helen Bowling of Decatur.
The bride wore her grandmother’s diamond watch and carried her bouquet on her mother’s Bible and a blue handkerchief belonging to the groom’s grandmother. The bride’s attendant was the groom’s daughter, Savannah Bowling.
A wedding trip to Cancun will be planned latter.
The couple will reside in Decatur.
The bride is a 1993 graduate of L.D. Bell and works for English Paints.
The groom graduated from Decatur High School in 1989 and is employed by Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson.

Bowyer - Eugene and June Bowyer
Fiftieth wedding anniversary Jan. 25, 2003
Eugene and June Bowyer of Chico will be honored with a reception in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2 to 4 p.m. at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico.
Bowyer and the former June Eckert were married Jan. 25, 1953, at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert, Kan. Their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will host the reception. They invite friends but request no gifts.
Bowyer is retired from R.H. Siegfried Oil Co. in Tulsa, Okla. and works part-time for WW Design in Chico. June is retired from Chico Dry Goods and works part-time at the Old Drug Store in Chico.
They have three sons and a daughter, including Bill and Becky Bowyer and Doug and Bunny Bowyer, all of Chico; Sandra and Norman Jones of Runaway Bay and Steve Bowyer of Pasadena. The have 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

George D. and Jeneva Brackeen of Decatur celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary June 13.
Brackeen and the former Jeneva Bramlet were married June 13, 1953 in Decatur. They have 11 children, 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Tommy Ralph and Annella Grace Brixey of Iowa Park will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary Feb. 22, 2003, with a reception to be hosted by their children at the First Baptist Church in Kamay at 2 p.m.
Brixey and the former Annella Grace Dunaway were married Feb. 21, 1953, at the home of Annella’s parents, J.C. and Hilda Rhine Dunaway in Decatur.
Tommy is retired after 29 years with Longhorn Trailer & Body Co. in Wichita Falls and Annella is retired after 27 years with the Wichita County Water Improvement District No. 2. They are both members of the First Baptist Church in Kamay and the Swinging Stars square dance club in Wichita Falls. Annella is involved in the Wichita Falls Area CattleWomen.
They have four children, John C. Brixey and wife Cathy of Frederick, S.D., Lee Ann Beall and husband Charles of Cedar Park, James M. Brixey and wife Debbie of Kamay and Jeryl R. Brixey and wife Kristi of Lubbock. They have 11 grandchildren.

Marriage vows exchanged April 26, 2003
Kassi Kay Richey of Bridgeport, daughter of Gary and Bobbye Richey of Bridgeport, and Damon Ashley Burns of Mena, Ark., son of Raymond and Patty Hayward of Big Fork, Ark. and Reuben Burns of Minden, La., were married April 26, 2003, in the Fuller Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. The Rev. Sonny Smith of First Baptist Church of Boyd officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the granddaughter of Doye Bohannan of Bridgeport.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an informal white satin gown with a fitted bodice, spaghetti straps and a full skirt. Embroidered flowers and crystal beads detailed the bodice. She carried a clutch style bouquet of yellow and white tulips wrapped with a handkerchief from her great-grandmother. The bride also wore her grandmother’s diamond wedding band.
The matron of honor was Kim Swann of Keller, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Laura Janese of Phoenix, Ariz., Amy Weston of Hot Springs, Ariz., Kelly Regan of Mountain Home, Ark., Heather Cross of Lindale, Liz Bashore of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jen Soltis of Cleveland, Ohio. They wore cornflower blue floor length satin gowns and carried single yellow tulips.
The best man was Thomas Fernandez of Arkadelphia, Ark. Groomsmen were Robert O’Nale, Josh Porterfield, Nick Ward, Jake Houpt and Thomas “Hoot” Gibson, all of Arkadelphia, and Gary Richey of Denton, brother of the bride.
Flower girl was Gitte Frandsen of Copenhagen, Denmark. Ring bearers were Joey and John Michael Swann, son of David and Kim Swann and nephews of the bride.
The guest book attendant was Sarah Peters of Paris and wedding programs were distributed by Rasena Seagraves of Lubbock. Ushers were Jason Shawn of Bridgeport and Jon McCollum of Dallas. Classic baroque music was provided on trumpet by Logan Place of McKinney.
A reception followed at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. Food was provided by Charlene Reardon of Decatur. Servers were Kieron Diffenderfer, Michelle Clark, Marsha Carpenter, Rosita Seagraves and Ardath Coursey.
The couple’s honeymoon was a cruise to Mexico.
The bride was 1996 valedictorian of Bridgeport High School and received her B.B.A., cum laude, in business management from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.
The groom graduated in 1995 from Mena High School and also attended Henderson State University, where the two met.
They will move to New Orleans, La., in August while the bride attends Tulane Law School and the groom pursues his art career.

Elizabeth Sarah Higgins and Christopher Toler Burton, both of Decatur, were married June 21, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. The Rev. John Taylor officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of the late Janet Palmer.
The groom is the son of Charles and Loraine Burton of Decatur.
Given away by Rodney and CeCe Lisby, the bride wore a gown of candlelight silk satin. The fitted bodice had a square neckline. The back was adorned at the waist with a pale pink bow, the slipper length skirt flowed into a chapel train.
The bride carried a bouquet of calla lilies, ranunculus, hydrangeas, bells of Ireland and astilbe.
The matrons of honor were Laurie Hodges of Decatur and Alba Jiminez-Burton of Suva, Fiji, sister-in-law of the groom. They wore champagne gowns.
Flower girls were Baylie Gilbert, daughter of Chase and Christy Gilbert of Decatur, and Bronte Rawle, daughter of Dr. Tom and Rachel Rawle of Decatur. Ringbearers were Austin and Aspen Higgins, sons of the bride.
Best man was Wade Burton, brother of the groom of Suva, Figi. Groomsman was Coy Harris of Cleburne. Ushers were Jamie Stone of Decatur, Jimmie Brown of Yukon, Okla., and Ben Hodges and Eric Gabbert, both of Decatur.
Organist was Nanci Nellis of Alvord and soloist was Martin Woodruff of Decatur.
A reception catered by Main St. Bakery of Grapevine followed the ceremony at the Decatur Civic Center.
The bride is a graduate of Decatur High School and is attending Weatherford College in Decatur.
The groom is a graduate of Decatur High School and a 1992 graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He owns B Bar Meat Market in Decatur.

Sterling Jan Meador and Robert Gavin Cole of Dallas were married in a double ring ceremony Sept. 20, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Dr. Thomas O. Brumett officiated the afternoon ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin D. Meador of Decatur. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Gettys of Decatur. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Cole of Marietta, Ga. He is the grandson of Mrs. Marjorie Cole of Marietta.
Music was provided by Nanci Nellis, organist; Sue Harris, pianist; Dale Colgrove, trumpeter and Eryn Gettys, cousin of the bride, soloist.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a Lazaro gown of white, silk radzmire. The A-line silhouette featured a beaded bodice with thin straps, embellished with silver embroidery, bridal pearls and Austrian crystals. From the horizontal waist, the skirt fell to slipper length and into a chapel train. Tiny covered buttons and loops enhanced the center back. Her headpiece was a comb, which held two layers of silken illusion dotted with Austrian cyrstals. The longest tier extended beyond the length of the train. Her tiara and necklace were of Austrian crystal. She carried a bouquet of white calla lilies.
Matron of honor was Amanda Callinan of Austin. Bridesmaids were Kara Overton, cousin of the bride, of Decatur and Jennifer Morrow and Tami Morris-Reinmiller, both of Dallas. They wore floor-length, cranberry-colored gowns with cream-colored sashes. Twin cousins of the bride, Juliet and Olivia Welsh of Dallas were flower girls. Lea Ann Meador, sister of the bride, and Tristan Meador, niece of the bride, both of Dallas, were the candlelighters and program attendants. Shauna Tomme of Denver, Colo., cousin of the bride, registered guests.
Patrick Cole of Marietta was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Brian Hasenbauer and Aaron Reinmiller, both of Dallas and Jamie Jackson of Atlanta, Ga. Ushers were Chance Overton of Decatur, cousin of the bride; Andrew Rottner of Decatur; Grady Paxton III of Atlanta and Eric Koenigs of Dallas.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at their home. The bride and groom were chauffered by their fathers from the reception in a 1922 Dodge touring car.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Texas Lil’s in Justin the night before the wedding.
The bride is a 1992 graduate of Decatur High School and a 1996 graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She is a Certified Public Accountant and is employed by D.R. Horton Inc. in Arlington. The groom is a 1992 graduate of Marist High School in Atlanta, Ga., and a 1996 graduate of Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. He is employed by Holt CAT of Dallas as a governmental sales representative.
Following a honeymoon in Nantucket, Mass., the couple reside in Dallas.

Seventieth wedding anniversary May 22, 2003
George and Maxine Cunnius of Decatur celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at their home. They were joined by their children, Tommy Cunnius, Jimmy Cunnius and Beth Rawle, all of Decatur, their seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.
Cunnius and the former Maxine Longmire were married May 22, 1933, in Merrietta, Okla. They moved to Decatur where they lived on Worth Arnett’s dairy. Cunnius milked for Arnett before buying land and starting his own dairy. He served for 40 years on the Wise Soil and Water Conservation District board of directors and retired from the dairy business. Maxine is a homemaker.

The prospective groom is completing his master’s degree in civil engineering at Texas Tech. He is employed by the Texas Tech Wind Engineering Department.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Beverly Robinson of Chico.
The groom is the son of Jerry and Barbara Haddox of Bridgeport.
Given in marriage by her mother and father and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin two-piece gown by Vera Wang. The gown was strapless with iridescent beading and corset-style lacing in back. The skirt flowed into a long train with iridescent beading along the edge. The headpiece was accented with crystal with a cathedral-length veil.
The bride carried an arrangement of fresh roses spiraling in color from dark to pale pink.
The maid of honor was Carissa Grizzard of Oxford, Ala. Bridesmaids were Callie Branch, sister of the groom, of Normal, Ill., Amber Allen of Natchez, Miss., Tabitha Grenevald of Goldsboro, N.C., and Summer Groff of Clayton, N.C.
The bridesmaids wore pale pink satin and chiffon floor-length dresses and carried a bouquet of different shades of hand-tied pink roses.
The best man was Greg Huett of Tampa, Fla. Groomsmen were Daniel Robinson, brother of the bride, of Chico, Cory Cowling of Bridgeport, Jeremy Huddleston of Granbury and Daniel Dickerson of Coppell.
The guestbook attendant was Heather Bishop. The program attendant was Kari Gage. Pianist was Audria Shaw. Soloists were Diane Bishop and Daniel Dickerson, and a duet was sung by Daniel Dickerson and Susan Summers, all of Decatur. The groom also serenaded the bride with a self-composed song.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents and featured an outdoor, Texas style barbecue at the home of the bride’s parents.
A reception was given by the bride’s parents at The Club at Runaway Bay. Buffet style dinner was served by The Club. The bride and groom cakes were made by Maurine Begeman, grandmother of the bride, and Cristy Fuqua, aunt of the bride.

Marriage vows exchanged June 7, 2003
Chris Anne Cocanougher and Clinton Hattaway, both of Lubbock, were married June 7, 2003, at First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Dr. Thomas Brumett officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Susan Cocanougher of Decatur.
The groom is the son of Mike and Connie Hattaway of Angleton.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a traditionally styled, strapless white satin ball gown with an A-line skirt and chapel-length train. The bodice was encrusted with pearls and sequins and had a Basque waist. She also wore a chapel-length veil and tiara.
The bride carried a mix of white roses, white stargazer lilies, white stock and pearl stephanotis tied together with a white ribbon handle.
The maid of honor was Liz Cocanougher of Decatur, the bride’s sister. Bridesmaids were Lisa Saski of Houston and Lisa Nunnally of Angleton. Bridesmatrons were Katie Hopkins of Houston and Jennifer Hanson of Angleton, sister of the groom. The honor attendants wore iridescent celadon-colored taffeta A-line gowns with a self band at the neckline and a wrap. They carried hydrangeas tied with a ribbon.
Flower girl was Autumn Battaglia, cousin of the bride and daughter of John and Mary Kay Battaglia of Madison, Wis. Ringbearers were John David Short, cousin of the bride and son of David and Beth Short of Tyler, and Dylan Hansoon, nephew of the groom and son of Mike and Jennifer Hanson of Angleton.
The best man was Jeff Fletcher of Danbury. Groomsmen were Mike Hanson of Angleton, brother-in-law of the groom, Trace Williams of Houston, Steven Maple of College Station and B.J. Holesovsky of Angleton. Ushers were Austin Gilbert of Houston, Justin Gilbert of Lubbock, Ben Moore of Dallas and Zack Kelly of Denton.
Music was provided by organist Cynda Ewing of Decatur and quartet Strings 4 All of Lewisville and a duet was performed by Martin Woodruff and Gina Miller of Decatur.
Lana Fennell of Decatur and Christian Kelly of Denton, cousin of the bride, were members of the house party.
A reception was held at The Club at Runaway Bay.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Decatur High School and graduated with a bachelor of business administration/marketing in 2001 from Texas A&M University. She is employed by Texas Tech University.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Angleton High School and will graduate from Texas Tech University in December with a bachelor of science/mechanical engineering. He is currently employed by Texas Tech University’s athletic department.
Following a honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple will live in Lubbock.

The former Hazel Fruitto of Greenwood married Arnold Howard Oct. 7, 1933, in Decatur.
He worked at Convair and was a dairy farmer. She was a homemaker. They have been life-long members of the Greenwood Baptist Church.
The couple’s children and their spouses are Willie and Louise Howard of Alvord, Adell and Dwayne Clark of Keller, Mattie and Dalton Graham of Aledo and Maurine and Wayne Lovejoy of Argyle. They have eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless beaded crystal and sequin satin dress. Her veil featured real roses and she wore clear, Cinderella-style shoes. She carried pastel roses, Gerber daisies and violets.
The groom’s sisters, Keitha Farrow and Brittany Euler of Paradise, served as maid of honor and bridesmaid respectively. They wore gingham sundresses in colors matching the shirts won by the best man, Brodey Gentry, the groom’s cousin from Paradise and groomsman Tom Euler of Paradise.
Skylar Makenzie, the bride’s daughter was the flower girl.
Kaynen Farrow, the groom’s nephew was the ring bearer.
Chrissi Richey and Karen Watkins served at the reception.

Jack Leake married Reba Nell Watson Feb. 7, 1953, in Bridgeport.
Their children and grandchildren were to host a dinner for the couple at Babe’s Family Restaurant in Roanoke Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. They have four children, Rickey Leake and wife Pam of North Richland Hills, Randy Leake and wife Terry of Keller, Vicki Leake of Decatur and Joe Leake and wife Donna of Decatur. They have 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Jack is retired from the Texas Department of Transportation. Reba has a childcare center in their home. Both are members of Grace Baptist Church in Decatur.

Lewis and the former Ann Dillard were married Feb. 14, 1953, at the home of Ann’s parents in Decatur.
Elzie is a rancher and a bulldozer operator, and Ann is a homemaker and retired abstract employee. They are both members of the Cundiff Baptist Church.
They have four children, Gevern Lewis Jr. and wife Ronda of Jacksboro, Lynette Shelton and husband Ricky of Longview, Greg Lewis and wife Jenilynn of Jacksboro and Laurie Plaster and husband Todd of Jacksboro. The bride is the daughter of Allen and Connie Arnold of Decatur. The groom is the son of John and Carol Lopes of Omaha.
A wedding reception honored the couple Sept. 20 at the Radisson Hotel in Fort Worth.
The bride and groom work in mortgage lending and live in Frisco. They will move to the new home they are building on Lake Lewisville in 2004.

Kristi Lea Green of Bridgeport and Benjamin David Lopez were married Oct. 21, 2003. Jan Morrow officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Tim and Jana Green of Bridgeport.
The groom is the son of Sam and Myra Sasser of Decatur.
The couple reside in Bridgeport.

Fortieth wedding anniversary Feb. 1, 2003
Paul and Lila Lopez of Chico celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary, Feb. 1, 2003.
Paul Lopez married Lila Cadena Feb. 1, 1963, in Falfurrias.
They have three sons, Jesse and wife Stacy of Corinth, David and wife Marcia of Wichita Falls and Paul Jr. and wife Lisa of Arlington. They have six grandchildren.
Paul is employed by Shell Pipeline, and Lila is a Mary Kay consultant. The couple attend Living Word Assembly of God Church.

Luman - Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jacob Luman
Marriage vows exchanged May 17, 2003
Lindy Carol Howard of Decatur and Robert Jacob Luman of Irving were married May 17, 2003, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Decatur. David Dickerson, brother-in-law of the bride, officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Susan Howard of Decatur.
The groom is the son of Gary and Crystal Luman of Irving.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a princess style gown of satin and tulle with pearl beads covering the bodice. The headpiece was a pearl accented headband with a waist-length veil.
The bride carried cream and white wildflowers with roses and baby’s breath.
The matron of honor was Marcy Dickerson, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amanda Gibson, of Mineral Wells, cousin of the bride and Skylar Howard, of Boyd, niece of the bride. They wore black satin A-line dresses and carried multicolored wildflowers.
Flower girls were Autumn Dickerson and Ashlin Dickerson, nieces of the bride, of Decatur.
Best man was Aaron Luman, brother of the groom, of Irving. Groomsmen were Nate Taylor of Irving and Terrence Holt of Arlington. Ushers were Joshua Luman of Kirbyville and Mitchell Dickery, both cousins of the groom.
The guestbook attendants were Nicole Poole of Arlington and Heather Bishop of Decatur. The organist was Barbara Brooks of Decatur, pianist was Annette Riley of Decatur and soloist was Debbie Russell of Decatur.
A reception was given by the bride’s parents at the church fellowship hall.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Decatur High School and a 2002 graduate of Arlington Baptist College with a bachelor of science degree in education.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of McArthur High School in Irving and is employed by Primerica Financial Services in Dallas.
Following a honeymoon to San Antonio, the couple will live in the Euless, Hurst area.
