Allard died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in Jacksboro.Born Sept. 30, 1927, in Wichita Falls to Jim Austin and Selma (Jones) Allard Sr., he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was also a retired minister of the Assembly of God church. Anderson died Monday, March 15, 2010.Born Aug. 20, 1917, in Paradise to William and Annie Mae Cansler Holcomb, she met her husband, Luther Anderson, when she was 13, and they married Aug. 28, 1937, in Decatur. She played card games, and she was known by her family as the "Bingo Queen."Anderson was preceded in death by her husband March 14, 2006; and son, Melvin Lee Anderson.She is survived by children, Winfred Ray Anderson and wife, Cathy, Beverly Ann Spradlin and husband, Joe, Sandra Kay Richards and husband, Dennis, David Anderson and wife, Donna, and Charley Glenn Anderson and wife, Dinah; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Anderson died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, in Denton.Born Aug. 24, 1929, in College Mound to Roy and Rosa Lou Anderson, he graduated from Decatur High School and served two tours in the U.S. Armed Forces as a second lieutenant stationed in Berlin between World War II and the Korean War. He married Elaine Clair Austin Sept. 19, 1953. In 1954, Anderson earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from North Texas State University and was named the Outstanding Accounting Graduate. He worked on the audit staff at Arthur Andersen in Dallas for two years before earning his master's of business administration in accounting from the University of Texas and doctorate in accounting from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1961. Following graduation, he taught at UT-Austin and NTSU. He wrote multiple professional articles and textbooks.He and his wife worked with the Tarahumara Indians at St. Elena, near Creel, Chihuahua, Mexico, building a school which educates 60 students in first through sixth grades.He is survived by his wife; children Becky Molidor of Frisco, Roy Anderson of Denton and Beth Buchanan of Waco; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers Phil, Joe and James; and nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to Tarahumara Indians in care of Community United Methodist Church in Ruidoso, N.M.

Auvenshine died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, in Tucson.Born Dec. 17, 1928, in Chico to Herbert Lausin and Hattie (Blocker) Cox, she married Harold Ambrose Auvenshine June 16, 1947, in Decatur. Auvenshire retired from First National Bank in Decatur as a bookkeeper after 20 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur and a Girl Scout and Brownie leader.She is survived by daughter Nancy D. Nixon of Tucson; granddaughter Lori Merkel of Bastrop; stepdaughters Pam Miller of Canyon and Beverly Lewis of Amarillo; a great-grandson; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Graveside service for Cecil Bailey, 83, of Mesquite, formerly of Bridgeport, was Nov. 2 at East Bridgeport Cemetery in Bridgeport.
Bailey died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, in Mesquite. Born Nov. 24, 1926, in Bridgeport to Cuil and Vaudie Bailey, he attended Bridgeport schools but was drafted his senior year into the Army during World War II and was deployed to Japan. Bailey attended Austin College in Sherman, earning a bachelor's degree in 1950. He earned a master's degree in 1953 from the University of North Texas.Bailey taught school for 34 years and retired in 1983. Twenty-seven of those years were with the Dallas Independent School District, and early in his career, he taught and coached junior high students at Bridgeport. Bailey also coached and was a principal in the Spade school district. He was a 32nd-degree mason and was a lifetime member of the Bridgeport Masonic Lodge. Bailey was preceded in death by his grandson, Eric Hoeft, and his sister, Helen Gregg.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce; daughters Brenda Bailey of Mesquite and Linda Barr and husband, David, of Dallas; grandchildren Scott Hoeft, Lauren Hays and Aaron Barr; sister Jean Ehle; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a longtime nutritionist and director at Golden Years Haven. She married Gary Devon Beard June 22, 1973.Gary Beard was a minister at Paradise Church of Christ from 1985-2005, where Teresia was a member. She was a member of Legacy Church of Christ for the last five years. She began working at Fort Worth Christian School in 1992 and served as director of the after-school childcare program, office aide and computer technician. He worked 23 years as a civil estimator, project manager and corporate pilot. Brown retired from Fischbach and Moore International Corporation in 1990. Fortenberry died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, in Hurst.Born April 11, 1922, in Leo to Ambrose Taylor and Eula Mae Willis Fortenberry, he was a teacher and coach at Paradise, Slidell and Hurst. During World War II, he was in the United States Marines and Naval Reserves. While stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., Fortenberry set the record for the military version of the decathlon, missing a perfect score by one point. After his military service, he played basketball at Texas Wesleyan College with other veterans and friends from Greenwood. He was in the top 20 nationwide in scoring and led the team to a 30-4 record in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics tournament in 1947. He was inducted to the TWC Sports Hall of Fame in 1972. While attending TWC, Hardie met Betty Rice. They married after graduation and moved to Peoria, Ill., where he played basketball professionally for Caterpillar. He returned to Texas to coach, farm and raise a family. Fortenberry is survived by sons Joe Ted Fortenberry of Greenwood and Dale Hardie Fortenberry and wife, Vivian of Carrollton; daughters Lynne Butler and husband, Robert, of North Richland Hills and Pamela Garrett of Hurst; grandchildren Monica Higdon and husband, Stephen, of Crowley and Jimmy Carr of Austin; and great-grandson Simon Higdon of Crowley.
