DODDS
Alfred NEWTON in Oklahoma, Texas, or Missouri....
His wife was Mary Frances SULLENS DODDS. SULLENS was her maiden
name and DODDS was her first married name. She was born in
Gasconade County, Missouri, in 1853, and her marriage to
Daniel Morgan DODDS took place on Dec. 29, 1870, in Maries County,
Missouri. My great grandfather, Alfred NEWTON, was born in 1853. I have
information that he was born in Gasconade County, Missouri, but
I do not know if that information is reliable. I also have some
indications that he may have been born in Texas, perhaps Jack
County or Wise County.
I think Daniel Morgan DODDS must have passed away in the late 1870's and his wife Mary Frances moved to Wise County, Texas, I believe. I am not certain if her marriage to Alfred NEWTON took place in Missouri before she moved or in Texas after she moved.
Alfred NEWTON appears on the 1900 census for Oklahoma Territory living in Canadian County with his wife Mary F., daughter Mary A., son Arthur J., and daughter Myrtle. The census indicates that his daughter Mary A. was born in Texas in 1882 and his son Arthur was born in Oklahoma in 1889.
I think Alfred NEWTON died in about 1909 in, perhaps Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Again, I do not have reliable information on this.
I am seeking information on Alfred NEWTON, such as his place of birth and death, names and birthplaces of his parents, date and place of marriage to Mary Frances SULLENS DODDS. I would appreciate any information that might help me get beyond this stumbling block.
Thanks in advance,
Alan Newton
