Old Willow Point Cemetery is located across the road
and to the northwest of the present cemetery. It’s near where the old town of
Willow Point was located. At one time there were 50 to 60 graves at this site.
From FmRd 2210 turn
right on CR 3825. The cemetery is back in the woods behind a pink house. It’s
on the Doyle Sheppard place that now belongs to his daughter, Betty Lou Massey.
The gate at the road is locked
and you will need to get permission to enter. From the barn, go across a creek
to the northeast. The cemetery is in the woods and scattered over about an acre.
In July 2001 we found 6
headstones. There was a cement and pipe fence around the Bloodsworth and Allen
headstones. The Roberts grave had a rock border around it.
Thank you to Jim Stegall for
helping us find this cemetery.
The information in parenthesis (
) in the table below came from an earlier survey that the Wise County Heritage
Museum had in it’s records. There were 7 headstones found at that time. Some
information is from Bessie Sheppard, "Willow Point Cemetery Records"

The following information about this cemetery comes
from the book
Wise County History, A Link with the Past, VolI
The names below may correct for some of the names in the table above, but
Ernest Itily's last name is clearly Roberts on the headstone.
